Repost: “What were you thinking bringing a child to a meeting?” (Or how I single handedly destroyed the student movement)

I just read this great piece and thought I would share it here. To quote:

“In short, as communists/anarchists/socialists/feminists or whatever variation of lefty you may identify as, we are seeking to achieve an equal society. Perhaps not everyone has considered this, but this also includes equal share of social roles. Do not act surprised or hard done to when those faced with the largest burden of social care – i.e. lone mothers – start to become politicised and involved in your activist circles.
It is your job to adapt, to become more inclusive. Not to drive them out.”

  1. There can be a similar problem for people who are mentally disabled but who nevertheless want to be politically involved.

(I want to leave this reply on the original blog but can’t because it insists that I must be on Google or Twitter or some such such surveillancista list, I’d be grateful if someone could post my message on my behalf.)
